I have a Janome 6600 got last year. I went to the Thrift Store
and found a great buy. A sewing machine cabinet that it very
sturdy few scratches but it works great. I am enjoying my
new sewing.

I love used furniture stores and office furniture stores! Found a solid wood rectory table and a desk that I placed in an L shape for easy back and forth between the sewing machine and pressing. For a design wall I used flannel with grommets along the top that I hang from hooks that are almost invisiable when the flannel is removed. The only item that's new is the cutting table purchased from JoAnn's for $69, can't beat the price and it's a great height.

For years I sewed on the kitchen table or where ever I could find space, the kids are gone now and I have a room dedicated to sewing. Love the luxury miss the kids!

I have a chance to get a (almost brand new) Brother Quattro 6000D for $6000. With list price at $8000 - 9000, does anyone know if this is a good deal? It is supposedly highly ranked as an embroidery/sewing/quilting machine by Consumer Digest.

Okay these are the ones that I have earmarked to be used in my shop. The one in the treadle right now is the Singer W9 that Darcene sent me. All I have done with it was wipe the dust off oil it up and got it running. I am waiting for the needles to come in so I can sew something with it and then I will tear it down to refurbish it.

The others are in the shelves I built and I have used all but one to make a quilt. I still have to put the Hot Rodded 27 together to use it.

retiredtopa,
I bought the 1471 in the early 80's, I think. I traded it in on the Creative Vision. It was a great machine. I sewed everything on it! Cheerleading costumes, drapes, all our clothes, and my daughter's wedding gown plus quilts. Sometimes I miss it, but Big Mama is a jewel! If I could get DH to stay home long enough to learn how to use all the bells and whistles! I also have a Janome 760 Gem Platinum that I travel with. It's 12 pounds of delight, named Baby!
