For my birthday one of my sweet children gifted me a FQ pack that has cute colors but is of very poor quality. It is about 7 FQ and cost him $10. He works minimum wage. So the thought of him spending the money of something I do not feel like using makes me feel even worse. Do I ask him if he still has the receipt and try to return it? I am worried about hurting his feelings but one of my DD thinks he'll be fine. I just feel bad.

Just make him a wall hanging with it and don't worry about it being less than top notch.
He very specifically got something he felt like you would appreciate. Don't spoil his thoughtfulness and generosity!

Use it in a donation quilt for charity. I would be afraid of offending him by asking for a receipt to return it.

I like that thought but the fabric is a bit femine. He is a 21 yr old male. Maybe I should post a picture and see what you all think.

His heart was in the right place, and that's what counts. Surely you could find something to do with them.

I agree with Mom-6. Whatever you make with it will make him SO proud to have purchased it for you.
Make a tablerunner or wallhanging...something that won't get washed often...I've used "less than LQS quality" fabrics before...they still look pretty...might not last as long, but they're pretty...

I like all your responses. I will use it either some for him or for something else. He is very generous and would love it if I would make something to donate. It is of 100% cotton so that is not the issue.

DS is a real sweetie and kind of special ed so I definitely think his feelings should go above anything. What was I thinking of returning it?

I am going with all your advice and am keeping it. The colors are very workable. OK an ideas on what to do with 7 FQ?
