Thanks for the tutorial. Babies always need burp cloths and this would make a nice shower gift.

I keep forgetting the order to layer and wind up having to rip out stitches. I did some luggage handle wraps, only about 4" square and kept thinking I had the correct order and then did it wrong again. Finally got it.

so, I'm bookmarking this so I have it ready when I try again.

Thanks for the hint! Works really great. I also trim the out the batting in that area - the same amount as whatever the seam allowance. Another tip I use when "birthing" is before turning I roll one of the corners towards the side of the opening, then reach inside and grab the roll and pull it through the opening. So much easier to pull the roll through than just a corner. The rest of the quilt will follow on through.

I really like the birthing method for my donation quilts. However, the backing always seems to be bigger than the front even though they are the same size. Any ideas on solving this problem? Thanks.
