Very nice tutorial. This is the newest video that Missouri Star Quilts has on youtube. I put a note on my computer to give it a try. Has anyone tried it with smaller pieces? If so, how did it work out. I have a bunch of 1/2 sq triangles I made from 8" squares that might be fun to use up.

Wow! what a great block. Ohio stars are a favorite of mine and this spin on the basic star is awesome. I've got this bookmarked for future reference. Thanks so much for the tute.

This will be another great way to use scraps for me.
peace

Thank you, Tartan, for doing this so my printer would print it. I watched Jenny's tute last night, and wanted to go right out to my sewing room and do it. But I don't cross my yard after dark. And I don't know how to make my printer print something as big as a tute up.

So, in spite of the fact that I sometimes can't get the pics on this board to print (if they have that little safety pin thingy up in the corner, a lot of the time, my printer will just give me an empty square), yours did, and I am so happy to head out right now and make one of these squares. Thank you thank you thank you.

Thanks Tartan, I didn't end up with a 12.5 inch block, mine is 12 inches, but the block still rocks

Hi, new poster (and new quilter!) here. I just made two of these blocks with a mistake: I rotated the center squares 90 degrees. Yes, I did it twice, sigh.

My questions: Is this some other, standard star block? Did I just make something everyone else already knows how to do some other way? I tried doing a google image search of "star quilt blocks" and didn't see anything exactly like these. Maybe it isn't considered a star, but something else and I just don't know the correct terminology?

Thanks for any insight,
Louise

Louise, you can rotate the center or not it is up to you. Pretty blocks!
