Open the inserts and center the point seam over the construction seams, pin and iron. I pressed my seams open which worked well[ATTACH=CONFIG]554844[/ATTACH]

When my plate was all done, I trimmed 1/8 inch off my blade bottoms so the inserts covered the raw edges well. I will applique my Dresden Dahlia to a background square and stitching down the inserts points to cover the raw edges well in the center. If I finish this sunflower version at a later date I will post a picture.[ATTACH=CONFIG]554845[/ATTACH]

Thank you for posting the tutorial! You did a wonderful job taking photos and clearly explaining each step.

What is the finished size of your Dresden Dahlia? Appliqueing it to a background will make a lovely pillow. I wondered what size pillow form would work with this block. Thanks again!
