So, I read your post and cleaned out my trash can!! I created 25 blocks and will sash them. I am donating it to our guild's service project of "just for You" quilts that go to our children's hospitals in Atlanta. I will get every usable scrap into a quilt from now on!!

My blocks are 71/2 inches cut. They are just laying on that piece of blue fabric to see if I liked it. I will make the sashing 2 1/2 inches, cut. Glad you liked it!

These are all so gorgeous. I seriously like the idea of sending a quilt to anyone in the services. I'm thinking how nice it would be to send a quilt of this type to a service person away from home. Maybe we could all contribute a square that we make and sign with where we are from also and someone could sew it together and send it? I would definitely be willing to contribute to the cost.

I think it would be wise to first find out if they can receive this type of gift. They move around a lot and to have a quilt to move with them might be troublesome. Have you ever thought of going to the airport when their flights come in and give it to one of the guys? That is an awesome sight I'm told.

It certainly would be an emotional sight. I would be very proud. We wear red on Fridays in Canada as one way to show support for our troops. Although I would love to give one a quilt I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to do it personally, I'd probably find it too difficult to think of someone's baby going to war.
