This block can be scrapped, planned or use charm squares and honeybun precuts. It can look like a traditional Pineapple block or with some other fabric placements be a great block to feature a fussy cut or photo. Here are two of my experimental blocks and a PDF with complete instructions and some sample full quilt layouts.

this uses 5 squares and 1.5 strips in a picture frame layout

Here I randomized the stripwidth and corner size. What do you think? Tote? Pillow? Tabletopper?

here is a PDF. I hope the directions are clear. Have some fun today!

This is a great idea. You can use leftover strips and make it sort of scrapppy.

I am new to Quilt Board. Thank you so much for the mock pineapple block instructions. I have always steered away from pineapple blocks because they look like a lot of work and very complex. I will definitely try your method.

I found this on line. It is the basically the same thing just without the corner triangles. It was on a Simplicity free pattern site. I did edit it a bit taking out references for the ruler it is meant to sell. I don't think you need the ruler as any square ruler would do. I think it would make a nice addition to a quickie, no fuss, pineapple block reference.
