Quiltforme, I used your concept and Roolen's changed measurements in my post today of paper pieced Disappearing Pinwheels.
very nice!
How did you get your points in the center to match up perfectly and lay so flat??!! Mine are horrible. I sewed from the outer edge to the center when sewing the triangles together and I wasn't sure whether to press the seam open or to one side? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!! I tried to upload a picture of my block but it wouldn't.
Do you have this in a PDF i can download and keep?
I saw this tutorial this morning, referred by a post from Cyberquilters, joined the group and made 4 of the blocks. I was hoping to post a picture, but couldn't figure out how in my time frame, so here is a link if anyone would like to see my blocks: http://wraggedypatches.blogspot.com/...-pinwheel.html
It's beautiful. But I know I will need to follow your tutorial for the first few blocks. It looks very intricate, but I think with following the instructions, I can do it. And I have a number of charm packs, including solids, so I should be able to make it w/o having to buy anything else. How do you think it will look using layer cakes?

That's a great idea! Please come back and show us your blocks all sewn together! I am dying to see the finished product now!
Thanks a bunch for this!
A picture says a thousands words. Thanks for the great pictures and instructions. A wonderful way to use those charm packs.

The fabrics are gorgeous. Interesting design.
Love it, now to try it on my own ???? Will see.
WOW... that was clever... I guess one could mix and match two different pinwheels and ... and... the combinations are endless... thank you!...
fabulous tutorial. the pictures are so clear "cut". I saw this link posted on the hgtv.com quilting & needlework message board. thanks for sharing.
This is glorious work! The geometry is so simple yet looks so complex!
love to see pic of finished quilt top
that is great , how many 5 inch blocks do I need to make a lap top ?TIA
I was just wondering....if I wanted to make this quilt in 4 colors, (2 darks and 2 lights) to make a standard size quilt top, how much fabric should I buy in each of the 4 colors. Charm packs usually have many different colors, so I would cut my own squares but I have no idea how much fabric to purchase. Can anyone help me?
Bear with me as I type out the math.
A charm pack is 42 - 5inch squares so you would get 8 from each 5" strip, so your looking at about 30 inches x WOF of each colour. Personally would just get the yard of each to make sure I had extras, more if you wanted to use some of it in the borders.
Thanks so much for the reply. One more question....does that mean that if I buy 1 yd. of each of the 4 colors...that would be equal to 4 charm packs? Not sure if that is what is needed to make a standard size quilt (4 charm packs). Thanks again for the help. I will give it a try.
Thanks FOR THE TUT. I think you should let jenny know! You can be in the next Block book.
