Thats where I got mine was from a sign dealer, but I didn't know about the cool tool.. I'll have to call and find out...

Beware *****If you cut CROSS grain it is much stronger. I tried to go along the grooves and it was not strong enough to wind the fabric on especially if you are planning to wind several yards on one little bolt. :thumbup:

OK I started on this plan yesterday. I bought 5 nice oak plywood cabinets from off craigs list. Tonite DH cut plastic corigated sign board for me. I started with one 55 or 65 gal tub. It took me from 10:00pm to 1:00 am to fold just one tub worth. I can see right now that I have many many hours looking me in the eye to fold all that stuff. I probably have at least 40 tubs that size filled with fabric. I am begining to wonder if those 5 cabinets will be enough.

I'll have to see what I can do with this idea. My DH and I are fixing up our DD's old room (she got married in July) as my sewing room. I'm so excited!

OMG you are a lucky women!! Your room is beautiful. Just like a quilt shop. I am so jealous and want to do the same thing to my "TINY" sewing area. It may take a while for me. How long did it take you? I would have loved to see the before pics.

Another option that has worked well for me is to use matt board (used to mat pictures) for the boards and plastic coated <large> paper clips to secure the fabric.

I get the matt board at Hobby Lobby. Regular price is $7.99; however, they run a 50% sale on these once a month.... so that is when I stock up. I can get 8 large and 5 small out of one piece. **Note** the matt board is best cut with a knive specifically designed to cut the thick board.

You can get the plastic coated paper clips at a "Dollar Store" --- 40 for $1.00.

I LOVE being able to see all my fabric and not having to dig through tubs to find it. It is much, much easier to put it back where it belongs too!!!

You are on your way to getting it done. Let's see pix of your progress. You are gonna love what you see and be careful because it can become a daunting task if you have a lot of fabric to fold. But oh the end results are wonderful. And NO more searching and searching through all those tubs to find what you are looking for or what you need! Back before I did this I would just run to the store out of frustration. I LOVE this it is so much easier and much more economical too. :thumbup: :-D :thumbup:

How did you fold 60" wide fabric? I have a couple of peices and I just kind of triple folded them, but that's tricky to keep straight with 5 yrds or more :).

I don't have a ton of stash, but what I do have is looking SO much nicer!!
