Lori, I agree, the green looks really good with the pink on each side. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

LOL I am making a baby quilt with the same materials. If it was going to be a girl, I was going to make a pinwheel in the middle, if it was a boy a bow tie. But since Sept. the Dr. has told her, a girl, a boy, baby backwards can't see, and Jan. 4 the think it's a girl. So, I forgot about the 3D-pinwheels and just made it for either. I cut off the pink stripe on the border fabric. So now I'm ready to quilt it. Just procrastinaging on the. I started this little quilt months ago, and it isn't as exciting as it was back then. But love the fabric!!!

That's why I waited until she was here, when DIL had ultra sound they said they "thought is was a girl", we all know how surprises can happen so I said I was gong to wait to see what they had and then start quilt. I just love the nameof the fabric, Moonbeams in a jar, so cute!

Wow! That was quick! This will be a fun change from plain pinwheels. Thanks!

plainpat 02-06-2011 04:21 AM

Love the tute. I made 3 small quilts using this mthod, but that was yrs ago. Your quilting on the quilt is so perfect!

MNM 02-06-2011 04:50 AM

Just to let you know my quilting teacher is teaching her classes the 3-D block. This block has been sooooo popular.
The teacher asked last week whose block it was and I could not tell her. I went way back on this thread and never found the answer. She has a teacher friend that would also like to teach it. I hope she can pass this on with out getting into some kind of legal problems. Has anyone got a thought on that?? I have been reading alot about not being able to share or make copies of some patterns.
Could use your comments.

This is really neat...do you quilt the pinwheels or leave as is?

seymoore 02-06-2011 09:17 PM

OMG!!! This is awesome, and so easy!

OraLee 02-07-2011 12:06 PM

Don't quilt the pinwheels. Leave them as is or them won't stand up.

Alondra 02-07-2011 01:04 PM

I made half a dozen of them this morning, and can't quit. I LOVE them! Ohmygosh, they are fun, and so easy!

WonkyWanda 02-07-2011 01:51 PM

Thanks for this tutorial! I have seen pinwheels in quilts before, and I thought they would be really complicated to make!!! How cute!

Just wanted to share a picture of how mine are coming along...I will post the finished quilt in the pictures when I'm done.

Thanks again! I have started several quilts for my baby girl due in May, but this one by far is my favorite and I just can't wait to FINISH it! It's wonderful when you have a project that you enjoy so much you can't wait to get home and get sewing. ;)

plainpat 02-13-2011 05:08 AM

That's adorable! The fabrics/colors are perfect You've done a great job.

This pattern is so much fun to do . You will want to make them all the time. I just love it.

luckylindy333 04-06-2011 01:42 PM

Thanks from me, too! This looks really easy. I have a quilt that I am working on (a Block of the Month from a LQS) that calls for pinwheels in the final border. This seams sew much easier than the way that they show it!
