Think you will need eight 6" squares of each color for one dahlia.

Amazing job on the tutorial! Thanks so much!! Can't wait to try it. Can you give an approximate size of the finished dahlia?

I haven't acutally finished it yet. I am thinking about making it into a round cushion. Maybe piping around the edges. It does need something to finish it.

Fat quarters work very nicely. You just have a little bit left over once you cut the squares out. Charm packs are 5" square, and I don't know if they would work. I used 6" squares.

Are the fabrics tacked down again after folding toward the center where they overlap so the block can be used on something washable?

I haven't stitched mine down. I was following the other directions. It seems like a good idea to stitch them down as they are folded. Should be fairly easy to do so it doesn't show.

Someone posted to this thread that they would like a tutorial in English. I thought I would give it a try.
When I stacked them, I placed them on my cutting board and used the lines to place them at 1/2" intervals.
I tried to place the top fold of the stack as close to the center of the background as possible.
Thanks QuiltnNan for the tip.

Can anyone tell me why I only get little exes under the instructions. No pictures. All I got was the first picture of the red fabric folded twice. This has happened before . MNM :-(

MNM, there can be several reasons for this. Assuming you're using Internet Explorer, check this page to see possible reasons, and how you might correct it:

LOVE THE TUTE! My sister made a number of these as gifts a few years ago but she called them "Rising Stars". After all the folding was done, she snapped them into the round embroidery hoops, which were perfect for hanging on the wall. Now I can do them too!

Jingle 04-17-2011 04:27 PM
