K great tute - I even understood it!!! May have to try it!

Tootsie 02-08-2010 08:40 PM

Whoa! This is way cool! Thanks for the detailed instructions and pictures. Hmmm....wonder if I could slide this one onto my "to do" list??

sandpat 02-09-2010 05:35 AM

Great Tute Kathyrn! I see now exactly how you did it...I'm like you though, I don't see why the glue wouldn't work well too. Its a cool way to do a quilt...I'm just gonna have to give it a try...hmmmm...maybe my next doll quilt victim..oops..I mean partner

BTW...like your ironing board cover and I love your little pin cushion..did you make it?

sdparent 02-09-2010 05:38 AM

That is such a beautiful wall hanging, I may have to make one. Thank you for the tute!

Roberta 02-09-2010 05:47 AM

Thanks so much for posting this method. I'm dying to try this out so I have something to do while waiting for Dr.'s appointments, etc.

SSTeacher 02-09-2010 06:46 AM

K3n: You are a great "tutorialist." One would never believe it was your first try. You make the "quilt as you go" look quite simple. Thanks for all of your time in putting the instructions on the Board.

ceegee 02-09-2010 06:59 AM

This is wonderful but will you show how to put the back side together. I still cant figureit out I must be very dumb.

ceegee 02-09-2010 07:01 AM

Wonderful job on both the tutorial and the wallhanging. You've taken a technique I've been afraid to try and turned it into a project I can't wait to start on! (I would have never thought to use the steam-a-stitch for the back) Thanx so much for taking the time to do this. I'm sure I won't be the only one digging for scraps this afternoon.

peel 02-09-2010 07:36 AM

Beautiful!!! Your tute is perfect, totally understandable.
I'm doing a t-shirt quilt and trying to figure out how to do sashing. I think this is the best idea. Just have to decide on which side I want the sasing sewing to show.
Thanks again.

k3n,thank you so much for this tute. I may do a baby quilt QAYG and will use this info.

Quiltin'Lady 02-09-2010 08:14 AM

What a wonderful tutorial! Thanks so much for all the hours I know you spent on it. Can't wait to try it out... !!

MillieH 02-09-2010 08:46 AM

Marvelous tutorial, and I can see this method useful for many different patterns. What a great technique for a quick baby quilt for those late-arriving baby shower invitations! Thanks for all your trouble doing this excellent tutorial for us.

omak 02-09-2010 08:58 AM

WOW!
This will be one of my FAVORITES!
Good, excellent tutorial, thank you so much! <wave>

Yeah, see the scorch marks? Yes I made the pin cushion, it's got CDs in it. I had the link somewhere if you'd like it.

Do you mean how did I attach the backing fabric to the batting? Or how I actually attached the blocks together. Perhaps if you could tell me which number step or picture you're referring too, I can be more helpful!

:-D

Miss Purple Shoes 02-09-2010 10:18 AM

Wow! Thank you so very much I have been wanting to know how to join blocks of QAYG for a project that I started ages ago at a class and didn't get to the last lesson! Thanks again.

azam 02-09-2010 10:28 AM

Great tutorial  Love your wall hanging, seems that I have added one more thing to my "to do" list.

Yes, I would love the link for the pin cushion. Your tutorial is better than the book I have. I've saved it to Evernote to do after the company I'm cleaning house for has departed.

GladGrams 02-09-2010 12:13 PM

This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen. Awesome! I am going to try it!

Marguerite 02-09-2010 12:39 PM

That's really a cool process. Hopefully I'll be able to try that one some time.

venusb 02-09-2010 01:43 PM

this was great - thanks so much - always wanted to try this technique!

Marjpf 02-09-2010 03:09 PM

Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I know it was a lot of work to stop and take pictures, but so worth it for all the good information. Now I am no longer afraid to try one!

Catlady 02-09-2010 04:10 PM

Terrific tute. Sure beats the way I learned in a class.
Think I'm gonna rip that one apart and redo it your way.
Thanks for the tutorial.
I would like the link for the pincushion also.

tcarota 02-09-2010 04:29 PM

Great directions!! I want to do one, right away.......I have no patience! Thanks for sharing.

:-D

Wanna make bets on how many people scrolled back to look at your ironing board and pincushion????

  Yes, evidently you need to post the link to the pincushion. It seems more people than me liked it

sewgull 02-09-2010 05:51 PM

I do all my quilts using Quilt as You Go. Oueen and king size. I find it easy, with very few steps.

Suse 02-09-2010 07:45 PM

Wow, that looks doable. Thanks!

Quilter2B 02-09-2010 11:27 PM

I don't know if any one else has asked, but could we maybe get a peak at the back? Great tute! Thanks for the tips - I can put them to use in my current WIP!

sunkistmi 02-10-2010 12:04 AM

wonderful tutorial, very easy to follow. Will have to put it on my To Do list. Will you be posting the link to the pincoushion too? Great job.
