wow, awesome tutorial, thanks for sharing!

rhy930 05-30-2010 04:19 AM

I'm a very new quilter and this tutorial was wonderful. I will use it today. Thank you for such a clear instruction.

Pineapple Princess 06-03-2010 04:39 PM

Thanks for sharing this! I just found a whole bunch of unfinished potholders that I wanted to turn into a quilt - now I can! :)

bj 06-03-2010 05:03 PM

Thanks for sharing your tutorial. I've tried a version where you have to hand stitch on the front. It took forever!!!! Your method looks very much friendlier to my poor fingers. And your heart quilt is beautiful.

emsgranny 06-03-2010 10:18 PM

love it - the black just sets if off!
Can you do one of your rooster it turned out great!!!

Do you know how I can print out just your tute with pictures - Last time I tried to do it on another one I got everything on screen and all the comments. I am not very good at this computer stuff lol
Maybe you could set up instructions with pictures charge a minimal amout plus postage I know I would buy! Or set it up so you could email as an attachment pm me thanks

sandpat 06-04-2010 05:30 AM

ems...usually when I want to print out the tute...I copy and paste the information that I actually want (of course I love all the little comments, but not necessarily on my tute   )...into a word processor program that you should also have on your computer and print it out from there. I also have the file saved there if I ever loose the hard copy.

Your pictures on the tutitorial are so great, you almost don't need the written instructions. Great! & thank you.

tcup 06-05-2010 09:58 AM

A great job with the pics and explanations. I could do it. I may not try.

This quilt is so stunning, so full of life and such a unique way of quilting.

I think there will be one almost exactly like it in Australia before too long.

Psychomomquilter 06-22-2010 03:41 AM

That looks so easy! What is that plastic square on top? is it also a ruler? Is that needed when I make any other quilts. Mary

Yes that's a 6 1/2" square ruler. I find it very useful for trimming blocks, cutting smaller pieces than my 24" warrants, etc. I'd say it's the ruler I use most, after my long one. :-D

Psychomomquilter 06-22-2010 04:10 PM

Thanks for helping me learn about new tools!

MS quilter 06-29-2010 06:49 AM

Just found your tute. Girl I don't know what you do for a living, but you definitely have a "calling" for helping the quilters of this world. THANK YOU! I'll be watching to see if you post any other tutes.

Conniequilts 08-31-2010 07:48 AM

Thank you - this is fantastic and something I have been wanting to try. have been collecting various aspects and will put it all together in a method that works for me. I love how you finish the back, its the best finish I have found so far!

azam 08-31-2010 07:53 PM

Great tute! So many patterns, so little time. ;-)

Rainbow 09-04-2010 03:02 AM

You have inspired me to try this...THANKS !!

rwquilts 09-05-2010 06:40 AM

I just found this thread and slowly read and looked at your tute...amazing! Years ago, I tried Eleanor Burns method from a book and got only two blocks stitched together, as hers had you hand stitching the back seam down as was mentioned by someone in this thread...too TEDIOUS for me! Then a few years ago I thought I'd give it a whirl again and quit again! I love to do crazy patch blocks and string blocks from my scraps. I am going to try one more time to see if I can actually enjoy Quilting As You Go! Thanks so much for your hard work in giving us this tute! Won't start til after the holidays as that would be insane, but will let you know how it goes...

Scraps 09-05-2010 08:31 AM

This beginner is so appreciative of the great tutorial!! Fascinated by the strips and crazy pieces for blocks!

SundarKoyal 09-05-2010 08:34 AM

Could this method be used for example, doing a queen-sized quilt?

Thanks everyone. :-D

I don't see why not, the only thing I would say is that with the 6" squares that I used, the hanging was rather stiff but maybe with bigger squares...

jayelee 09-06-2010 10:14 AM

Great tutorial now I going to try one

newjeepgreen 09-06-2010 12:32 PM

You did a wonderful job on your tute! I understand every step! Thank you so much!

sumcoop 09-07-2010 02:26 AM

Thank you for a very great tute!...I don't like the quilting or hand sewing so I will try it...love piecing.
Where did you get the pattern for the stain glass rooster?

Thank you! I drafted the pattern myself from an image my DH found online. :-D

sumcoop 09-07-2010 06:23 AM

Well I love it...would you be willing to share if you have a pattern?
Thank you...it is beautiful!

purplefiend 09-07-2010 06:37 AM

You did a wonderful job with your tutorial!! WTG! I'm a visual learner, thank you.

RugosaB 11-09-2010 07:48 AM

I've noticed the comments in this thread are way past the date it was originally started, so I'd like to add

THANK YOU!

I'm about to try this method on my Puffin quilt. 4 years ago we went to Alaska, I bought some Puffin fabric, and had a complete quilt cut out. Then I was in a car accident, and though I've retained the knowledge needed to continue making quilts, and I've adapted my machine sewing to my abilities, I did not look forward to adapting my handwork. This is the answer! It is the first quilt attempted after the accident and in my new sewing room.

OMG, THANK YOU again! I hope you realize the time you took to make this tutorial and post it, helped at least one person continue living her life with joy!

k3n 11-09-2010 08:49 AM

You're welcome RugosaB - gklad to be a little bit of light in your world. :-D

Matilda 11-09-2010 04:27 PM
