I have to go into Hospital to have a replacement knee Op late on in March and suddenly realised I didn't have a Lap quilt, made loads but gave them away so I quickly ran up a D9P and used the till roll for the borders and IMO it has really made the quilt rather special.

I haven't layered etc; yet as I am waiting to get some pure cotton wadding, on Monday, as our Hospitals are so hot.

From a couple of orphaned blocks I made a nice little tray cloth today, I cut the till roll border horizontally to get 2 identical narrow strips, I think it worked lovely and such a super use of scrappy bits  http://inlinethumb15.webshots.com/46...425x425Q85.jpg

I have not been quilting a lot yet (no big quilt done so far) and I don't have much sraps yet but I hate throwing them. I think I will start sewing them that way before I get bags full of little pieces loll. I heard about the drying sheets and I have been keeping them for a few months now. That's it, I'm getting organized before I get addicted to quilting.
Thank you so much. Your experience pays me!!! loll

The paper is your foundation..you use it to keep all those little pieces flat and not get all wonky and you take the paper off when done...you can use fabric for a foundation also...good for using up fabrics you don't want but I like the paper ...can always find other things to do with fabrics

Sorry to hear you have to have surgery soon. Wishing you speedy recovery. I love your color and fabrics choices. Really lovely quilt top. Could you show photos of a few of the blocks uncut? I have tried to figure out the individual blocks but I get a bit confused.
