I don't quite understand why you're using glue if you're using Heat 'n Bond? I've only done an applique once, a machine applique, NOT raw edge, so I don't really understand the process too well....

So you are saying if you use the wonder under you dont have to fold edges in on applique piece? I bought some premade dresdan plates and wanted to applique but wasnt sure if I need to turn edges down - this seem soooo much easier thanks for tute Ihave bookmarked!! :thumbup:

When she said put the applique with the glue side down she meant there is a sticky side or glue side to the Heat n Bond. Maybe this is what you are asking about.

I have used Steam a Seam 2. The edges won't fray they say and I haven't had any problem so far. Also, I saw on Fons and Porter where they cut out the applique and then trim the middle of the paper pattern out and leave only the edge to cover the edge of the applique so it won't be so stiff after sewing it down. Hope this makes since.
