Twisted Log Cabin

Thank you for the tutorial. It is really nice and creative, but i was wondering does the size of the first square have to do with the width of the strips used or anything (what i am trying to ask if they are related?), and how big is the block that you made? and last do u stop adding just when you like the size of the block?
Sorry too many questions, but i would love to try it.

My block turned out to be 12 inches. Any yes, you just stop when you think you are done. And kids kept saying, "Make it bigger," so I stopped when I ran out of fabric, good thing I didn't have much!
