    Default Week 2

Good morning! Hope everyone has an ejoyable and safe holiday weekend. Now, on to some sewing!

Using the A and B fabrics, you will make 12 half square triangle blocks that measure 4-1/2” square. (If you are making a square table topper or a 54” long runner, you will make 16 of the 4-1/2” block, This is the only direction I will give if you are making a different size … remember when I said about 1/3 more fabric?

Those new to my mysteries know that I usually don’t go by the rules when making these blocks but you can use your method or mine, just have them measure 4-1/2” square. If you are perfect with your half square triangles and go by the quilting books, cut strips 4-7/8”. If you are like me and sometimes have trouble getting them perfect, cut strips at 5”. Whichever way you use, to make your blocks, cut one strip of A and one strip of B, and set the rest aside. Don’t discard any leftovers until you are completely finished with the runner. Sub-cut these two strips to make 6 of each measuring either the 4-7/8” square or 5” square of the A and B. Set aside leftovers.

Mark a diagonal line from corner to corner on 6 of the blocks cut from the lighter of the fabrics. Put one A and one B right sides together, and sew a scant Ό” away from the line, on both sides of the line and cut along the drawn line. (I’ve been asked what is considered a scant Ό” seam and have never seen anything written, so I probably would say about a couple thread widths, 1/32” or less, just so you don’t cover the marked pencil line.) Cut along the pencil line. Press. If your blocks were cut from a 5” strip -- using your 4-1/2” ruler, laying the diagonal line from corner to corner, and trim.

You will now have 12 half square triangle blocks of A-B that measure 4-1/2” square.

I know this is not a lot to do for this week, but I have had a lot of PMs that many are planning on reversible runners in the same pattern and also some bigger sizes, so to give everyone time to stay caught up, I am having you just make the 12 blocks.

Just waiting for the "whistle" to blow and looking forward to the journey with all my fellow travellers.

It is already Saturday lunchtime here so I have to wait until Sunday before departure.
    Love you final choice.
