You do turn the piece under, but your stitches are actually meant to show. Becky has some straight line embroidery type stitches at the edges and some alternating long and short stitches from the edge towards center of applique pieces. It actually looks quite cool! you can see a picture of the finished piece at allpeoplequilt:

doesnt unfortunately show a close up ... but I did consider doing this - it may be fun to try some of the AOTH blocks this way ;)

btw - Kathy or Lesley or ??? what type of threads are you using for scroll embroidery??
Hi, Cre8, I'm using DMC in a variety of yellows.

    Luv,

Long time, no hear! Glad you're stopping in. Have you been busy stitching AOTH blocks or just dealing with life? Have missed you. Good to have you back with us!

Hi luv, so nice to see your smiling face again!

Thanks for the applique with an attitude links. I saw that in my AQS mag. and thought it looked cool. I'm thinking that I might do some of the funky swap blocks with it...looks like a fun and quick way to add some fun to a block.

HI everybody! Im not ready yet, I am hoping to be ready and done by the end of the week :-D

New baby!!! he took over two days to get here! they named the cute guy Christopher  they actually named him the entire full name of his paternal Grandfather with his parents last name stuck on the end!
the look on Dh face when they told him    was priceless!!! I think he was suprised AND honored :D

another note: I am stuck on embroidery color!!! I cant decide between yellow or pink to go with my Red/Black/White????? I dont know if I want contrast with the yellow or compliment with the pink?????
I might just buy both and try it... see what happens

I am using various colours of silk thread and it works, I think about anything works in this quilt. Perhaps about two blocks have the same coloured thread.

    :( EEEEEKKK!!!!
ok ladies.... so what should I do now??? :?:
When I started my block 9 in the hospital, I just kept going. I had quickly copied the block on our copier and thrown everything I needed in project box - threads, thimble, scissors, paper scissors......fabs I had picked. Sewn hearts and lower petals. Last night relaxed, ready to sew rest and realized the block was reduced!! I had the book open next to my block and the book measures 6" between heart tips, mine measures slightly under 5 1/2."  :?

I am NOT making them all smaller. Should I add something to the outside - scroll around?? didnt look to see if others have embroidery outside of applique. Should I just wait to decide or bite bullet and start again. I really do love the way it all came together and with the fussy cutting I did on the hearts may not be able to repeat it. I wish my son had given the adapter back so I could load picture in.....
    help

Oh drat. Okay all is not lost, you could always add a border and then add some slightly larger hearts so that it doesn´t look odd when it up against the bigger blocks. There are a few with embroidery all around and very pretty they look so have a look at your book Block 25 and see if that helps at all. Good luck
