    more please bear with me whilst I post these

    Next press the seam and fold over the batting, covering over the excess. Draw a pencil line along the overlapping line and cut along this line

    like so.

    Cut along the line and then butt the two edges together and sew. I have used a black thread to make it show up better

    Now fold over your backing and turn in a small seam. pine and sew

    Ducky, yes 1/4" along the edge of the two pieces you have just joined together. In other words the two blocks. You are joing them with a 1/4" seam.
