I too like the second peacock better - it looks more balanced.
I have decided to join you on this QAL. I usually work in centimeters so none of the my made up blocks worked sizewise. I thought of doing the All Hallows block but when I went to quilters cache I fell in love with the Star and Crown block, so that is my centre. 1st border is the checkerboard as there were already enougn pointy things in the centre.
Fabric is from my stash as I'm temporarily wheelchair bound (fell and broke my hip before Christmas).
I'll try and upload a photo
I love all the centres and first round borders so far. Looking forward to the next border on Feb.

I liked the 2nd one better too...and I love the ribbon. I tried Jaba's 1st border again today, but I just cant get it to finish up as 4 1/2 " & when I do Its skew-wiff. I'll try again when I have that ruler! good night all...happy sewing.

Pippa welcome and what a beautiful start you have there.. so warm!
I didn't even try Jaba's block, fell in love with it on her wall board but said oh heck no! I am simply not ready for things quiet that skilled so your not alone.. I am sure its easy but I don't get things easily lol so maybe next year
I love the larger peacock it fits better in the theme of things with that border. perhaps a small 9 patch block is better for the little one it would be more to scale.. and the stamp one I am dying to see how that grows grand center and all
Hope everyone has a terrific day. I think we are looking towards a warmer week here and by Sunday even a high 40! wow!!! I am ready!!!

Bibliostone - thanks for posting your pics. I've been trying to decide how to do the corners on my ribbon border and after seeing yours, now I know how to make the ribbon flow. I have four blocks on each side so I think mine will still be different, not sure until I actually sew them. Guess I have to start with unsewing a little. I like the second peacock too.

Bibliostone" I wonder if a thing border around your center on that first one one emphasize the block. Love all three but the peacocks are my favorite. I am using that same light blue in my blocks. Love it!

Here is my piece. I am following this thread, but will make smaller wall hangings. Started with one of the suggested centers, added checkerboards, sort a. Then tried Thangles for the HSTs. This is the first time I really starched my fabric. What a difference! TY for getting us started! Dotty/NYC/ 7 degrees!
