It's a treat to read the Christmas notes and news. :-) Just another week to wait, and it will be time to have fun with family. I'm blessed to have two sons and their families near enough to visit. :-) I've been busy sewing this weekend. I prefer to sew, rather than to bake. I used to bake when the kids were young, but not so much anymore. But I'll bake something for the Christmas party at work happening this week, Wednesday.

This morning Mike & I went to Walmart & bought all the Christmas presents. We went early so as to avoid the crowds. We headed out at about 8:00. As we passed DD's house Mike asked if DSonIL was sick. (His Jeep was there.) I said that I didn't know. Before we were even in Walmart DD was texting that DSonIL was sick. Head congestion, chills, a cough, sour stomach, & sores in his mouth. She got him into the DR before 11:00. He has a virus. Coxsackie Virus. It is a bad one! Very contagious & there is nothing that can help. It just has to run it's course. Then the Dr looked at DD & said that since she already had a cough that she most probably has it too. It lasts about 5 - 8 days. Sigh, I bet the kids get it next. I guess Christmas is on hold for us.

Oh Bev... how terrible. I'm so sorry. I've never heard of that virus, but I know you and your husband don't want it! Just postpone and do your Christmas later. Stay healthy!

Bev, It's so discouraging to have a sickness that just must 'run its course.' When you have a prescription at least you feel as though you are being pro-active. I hope your family passes through the virus without any complications.

Merry Christmas to all that come to chat here and share their quilt adventures! May you be blessed with peace and the inner joy that lifts a person up and brings cheer and well being! Saturday and Sunday I'll be busy with church and family parties to attend, and Christmas Day will be a good time for rest. Merry, merry Christmas to you all!

Thanks Givio. I echo what you have said and said very well. I have been blessed to bake for the neighborhood and everything has turned out wonderful. I thought the yeast would never rise yesterday, but it did and the Grandma's sweet rolls were some of the best I have ever done! Neighbor is coming by later to collect the remaining ones...we enjoyed them fresh out of the oven. I only bake them at Christmas now and its nice to know, I can still bake them right. It is better than opening a Christmas gift to know others appreciate what I worked to bake for them. Joys of the holidays.

Well it looks like DD's family will be OK by Christmas. Well we might wait one extra day. DGSon hasn't come down w/it & DGD had Hand & Mouth when she was a toodler so should be immune. The incubation period should be past by Christmas. What ever the Dr gave 'em for the sores in their mouth seems to be working.

Great to hear from everyone and know you are looking forward to great Christmases. We will have around 17. Keeping it simple with ham, scalloped potatoes, roasted green beans, pasta salad and strawberry pretzel salad. I'll make my homemade potato rolls, and honey whole wheat rolls - love my bread machine for doing all the work on the dough. Everyone brings a dessert, so I don't have to do a lot of baking. I will make a couple of bar type cookies though. I use to bake for days before Christmas, but Joe and I don't need all those calories!

Merry Christmas from Iowa. I worked today and while there I got a call from the Grands asking if they could put up my tree...Of course I said yes and came home to find it put together and a few ornaments put on...I see a a theme...silver and white so will find the lights and put them on so they can finish it later to their hearts content.

I think Christmas, kids and some sort of illness goes hand in hand...you can't have one without the other. We will have a quiet Christmas with Farmer Son and family. Next weekend will be our celebration. That being said I have to get things tidied up and wrap a few presents.

Have a wonderful holiday with those near and far and grateful for life's many blessings.
