The third from the left (C) is a very light lavender print, and D is dark green....not sure if the colors are showing correctly. F is black with purple/lavender.
I thought the dark green would bring a little balance between the darker focus and all the pastels, is the green in the focus about the same shade of green? If not maybe have a green that is about the same as the green in F.

Leslie Frost here is a suggestion for your quilt colors if you do want to try to add more variety in colors of your projects write up some slips of paper with fabric in your stash, or if you only have b, w & r, maybe take the colors in a box of crayon, and in a separate container which ever letters A-F that you want to change or add instead of; Then draw a letter and draw a color and write the combo down. If you have it in your stash pick it & if not go pick a new fabric at the store from the colors on your new list. Totally random breaking into new territory...

Yes, the green in the focus (F) fabric is dark green, like fabric D.

Must all our 6 fabrics be 42" wide, or may we use fat quarters?

I've never done a mystery quilt and this is a small commitment so I'm excited to jump in. I'm fairly new so I don't have a stash and was waiting to go shopping. LOL. Really, I only have two pieces that are still a full quarter yard. But Judy, since you orginally said it could be scrappy, and just above you said we could use fat quarters, maybe I can use what I've got. I've still got a week to decide. I think shopping would be more fun.

Well, since you said "novice" and I picked up these pretty pretty fabrics that I have no idea what to do with, I'm going to join! Here are some sunny fabrics I think I'll use. I grabbed 7, not 6, so I will eliminate either the pale yellow (currently at "C") or the pale green print (currently at "E"). The bold solid yellow is my dominant color.

    So excited!
