Does your dog have a dog bed?? If not, consider one of these, my dogs love their's, because they're off the floor.

I also throw a blanket on top, just for them.

Also, I put pillows on my couches so my dogs don't jump up. It works the best.

All of our dogs have always stayed outside, as well as the cat we had once years ago, so my solution is keep them outside (you did ask). I am a dog lover but I do not want them in my house. DD has cats ad lets them in her house, I cringe because of cat hair everywhere, but then its not my house so I keep my mouth shut.
