Yes I had a wonderful hope chest , but downunder we call them "Glory boxes" mine was stuffed to over flowing , kitchen things , linen , blankets , bedspreads etc , and would you believe I am still useing some of the towels
43 years later I had so much, linen ( didnt help I worked in a wonderful linen store) , my daughter just laughed when I said to her to start a "BOX" , how times have changed .

Yes I had a hope chest. My father used to say he hoped to goodness someone would want me. My husband and I have been happily married for 44 years. It did take me 6 years to catch him, but it was worth the chase.

I never had a hope chest. never had a box or a basket. Just alot of hope in my chest. I did however buy one for my DD and I gave it to her on her 18th xmas with a bargello heart quilt inside and a cute poem that I wrote for her. She still has it but I do not know what she has in it.

I do have a cedar chest now tho that holds all of the kids drawings and special toys they had as a child. One of thes days I will give them back some of the things that are in it.

Oh this was fun. I love some of the personal comments about what you called your 'chest'. We had a pastor who was a batchelor in his mid 40's before he married. His bride was commenting that she had an over flowing 'God knows when barrel.' She was past 35 years old, then. Thankyou all for participating. It was a lovely response. God Bless You.

I still have my cedar chest. It contains all my prized possessions, my 35 yo son's christening outfit and many things from way back when. I open it occasionally and look at everything. I will NEVER get rid of it.

My hope chest was a cedar chest my parents paid for the materials and had my brother build in his woodworking class in high school. I had lots of "stuff" in it; dish towels, sheets, pillow cases, keep sake dishes, etc. 55 years later, I still have the cedar chest and consider it one of my treasured posessions.

I bought one with my graduation money years ago and my mom, great-aunt and 2 gradmothers were constantly putting things in it---it didn't help wither that my mom worked at a Ben Franklin and would bring something home every week to put in it---
