Default Do rugs stain ceramic tile

I have had a rug that I bought from Walmart stain linoleum. It was the rug, not the tile that was at fault. After several washing with bleach the stain came off.

No. your ceramic will be fine..but a word of caution..if you have never had ceramic before..be SURE all of your rugs have non skid backings..otherwise it's like being on a skating rink! Also..the smallest amount of water can make them very slick..but they dry fast..just something to be aware of...they are a breeze to clean..I love them. I bought a stick type steamer..they are wonderful for ceramic!

Don't know about rugs on tile, but I will caution you, if you drop something on the tile, you can crack the tile and break the object that fell. Ask me how I know this... Have numerous cracked tiles in my kitchen from dropping cans, pots and pans, etc.

When we installed tile, we did not do anything to the tile as we liked "the natural look." A big mistake. The gout is different colors. I had a large rug in the dining room; when I moved the rug out this summer. the tile is now lighter than the area where rug covered the tile. I now have dark tile around where the rug was and of course, the lighter tiles where the rug was. Have not a clue what to do at this point.

I have thought about this a little more, and am thinking it is going to depend largely on how permeable the tile is. Porcelain tile is the hardest and least porous, so it should resist staining. I would think that a porous ceramic tile can absorb dye from a rug and that this would be hard to remove.

I have white tile in my kitchen (not my choice, it came with the house) and always have rugs on it and have never had them stain it. Ceramic tile is awesome. You'll love it.
