Just checked the mail and found a brochure from Bernina that really made me think...after I started breathin' again! I'm thrilled for all of you that have them and use them and enjoy them....and I know they don't come close to the cost of bass boat and rig or all that goes with a season or two of hunting. But to read this in black and white really had an effect on me:

With approved credit an 830 is only $541/month for 24 months

Geez Louise....I couldn't begin to tell you all the things I immediately thought I'd spend that money on.....and, let me say that a long arm quilting machine and all that goes with it was one of them....heehee.... but I probably would have a very difficult time with that too, honestly.

So, how about yall....does this make you want to take a deep breath or what?

For a sewing machine!! That takes my breath away!~! My little $160 Brother has served me very well and made beautiful quilts for almost 4 years. It doesn't do a lot of fancy stuff, but how fancy do you need for quilting? Man...I could do a lot with that $13,000, and it would NOT be spending it all on a sewing machine!!!

I have a Bernina 730E that I upgraded from a 440QE that was already paid for, so it was trading in like a car, and got an awesome price on the new one. I absolutely adore my Bernina 730E

That being said...I would have to auction off my kids and take out a second mortgage on my house to be able to afford the 830. Even given that it has an extra long throat and can be put on a quilting frame, I just can't see the price for me anyway. I spent less than that on all of our cars. Even if you get the 820 with out the embroidery, it is round 9 grand. I looked at some of the new top end Brothers and Janomes and I think Baby Lock and they aren't cheap either.

I do agree that if I was going to spend that money, I would go for a long arm. The Baileys can be had for around $3000, and my Bernina dealer had a used Queen Quilter with frame for $4000.

I guess I can just drool and dream of winning the lottery ;-)
