Default How do you avoid grease spots on doilies under cookies?

I was asked to bring cookies to church. Sure, no problem! I made snickerdoodles and they came out fine. However, I placed a paper doily under them and it was literally soaked with grease from the cookies by the time they were served. Embarassing!!! Do you have any suggestions for avoiding this? Chocolate chips did the same thing. What cookies do you make to take to "dos?"

I put my cookies out on wire racks to cool. I then put them into tupperware container with paper towels between the layers. I get the pretty cut glass tray(plastic) from $store and arrange them right on the tray for special occasions. That way they look nice and if the tray gets lost, who cares.

Didn't do the paper towels. That's a good idea...will try that!

    I love snickerdoodles!

Cookies are mostly butter, so everyone should expect to see grease on the doily. This is not something that I would worry about for even one second, let alone be embarrassed by!

Just proves the saying, "Different strokes for different folks."

Cathyvv, you're right about the butter. It's just that these ladies are so stinkin' efficient and nothing they do ever shows anything "wrong." Maybe I just need to find a more "human" church! LOL! Well, maybe they won't ask for cookies from me again! But sampling the snickerdoodles was a good thing. :-)

I think there are paper doilies that have a light plastic coating. You can always send all your goodies over here.

I lay the doilies in the container or on the plate, add a length of plastic wrap, and then the cookies.

I use coffee filters and layer the cookies between them. I think the only way to prevent the greasy spots is the put the cookies on the plate at the last minute. It's a little thing but means a lot.

I would not have even noticed the grease. They are cookies so I just would not have paid attention to it.

Not doilies, but if you wanted you cold use the fancy foil cake decorators use to cover boards. some are embossed, others have a lacy look. As the others said, you won't get away from grease markings from cookies. when they make up cookie trays where i work, they put cookies directly on the plastic tray. We used to use doilies on the cake boards for cakes, but they too get a greasy look to them quickly. now we use foil boards instead of the white waxy ones.
