I have GE top loading washer and dryer (very large capacity).I love the large sizes and have no issues with the cleaning, the problem was the washer control panel broke and the wash cycle itself screwed up going on and off, sometimes it would work, sometimes not. Then, one day all the water dumped all over the floors.Of course right after the warranty expired.My son replaced the panel and took the whole washer apart and fixed it. There was a recall on the dryer, my dish washer control panel had a fire issue, (these were appliances that came with our new house) (we even up graded them).Our side by side GE refrig. is rusting out where the water/ice dispener is.The line froze up and we couldn't use the water/ice disp.Of course after warranty expired.This happened after 5 years, although the recalls were right after we moved in. The GE flat stove also has issues with the flat control panel, most of the time when you hit the temp or time up/down it just doesn't work. I WOULD NEVER buy another GE appliance. As far as front loading washers and dryers, I know several people who have them and hate them. Musty smells and had to be cleaned with a special cleaner. Just what I was told. I had a pair of Maytags before moving to FL that were 25+ years. Loved them.I replaced the belt on the dryer once.

I think the front load washers are great and yes I do have one. Useds less water but gets clothes cleaner. also have the pedestal which makes it very nice.
I have actually washed a queen size heavy quilt and it came out beautiful. the front load does not pull on the items as does the other type washers.

I have a Kenmore Elite front load washer and dryer. I love them both, they use less water and are more gentle on the clothes. The only complaint I have is that you can't dilute bleach like with a topload. I used to fill the tub, add the bleach and then add my clothes. You can't do that with a front load and I found that I get bleach spots on my laundry. (I like to bleach my coloured towels as it makes them smell better)

Front loader washes great, BUT you are unable to 'air' out the drum and it does accumulate a musty odor between washings, my next one will be the top loader w/no agitator

I just bought Whirpool Duet front loading washer and dryer. Washing does take longer, but they come out so dry that the dryer only runs 25-30 minutes. The clothes are clean, you use less detergent. I really love mine. This is my second set. I moved 6 months ago and left my front loaders with the house. I have missed them! I was using 16 year old washer and dryer since I moved. While the old washer was quick at 22 minutes, but the dryer to 2 hours to dry a load. I am seeing a big difference in my electric bill.

leave your door ajar on the washer, or purchase the cleaner that is designed for front loaders.

I have one and I HATE it....takes too long to do a cycle,noisey when spinning, no soak cycle, and even tho its raised on a platform I feel like I have to crawl to the floor to loan/unload the thing...it will probably last forever because I dislike it so much.

I also have the LG set and have enjoyed them. Mine are stacked because I have them in my kitchen, so works for me. Although, I still must fold and put the stuff away!!

When I was staying at a friend's house, I washed my clothes in her Aski front loader.You can vary the time it takes. Anyway, there was an amazing difference in the quality of the wash compared to my top loader. I would buy one.

Last fall I bought a Sanyo front loader. It does not take a super long time to do a regular load and the best thing about front loaders is that they use only a fraction of the amount of water (9-10 gallons) over the regular load of a top loader (50+ gallons). Since this purchase, my water bill has dropped dramatically!!
