Default Request for a tutorial for putting in zippers.

I would so appreciate someone putting one up for me. I've watched utube clips but they're finished and I've forgotten what was in them by the time I pluck up the courage to try it. Doesn't help that in the great pre-Christmas tidy up I've put away the manual for my machine and now I can't find it!

Yes, a tutorial for putting in zippers would be great. I know Jenny Doan at Missouri Star Quilt show how to put a zipper in purses and pouches, but I'm a quilter not a sewer, and it sometimes doesn't hit my brain exactly right, and something invariably goes wrong. In other words, I need all the help that I can get. Thanks.

I've not done zippers in pouches/bags but plenty of garments. Which are you looking for? Happy to help if it's for garments. I'm sure someone more adept at bags will come along if that is what you are looking for.

There are both different kinds of zippers (metal zip vs invisible, for example) and different zipper applications (fabric meets in middle to cover up zipper, zipper is exposed in middle, one fabric flap covers zipper). I'm sure if you describe what the zipper looks like and what you want to put it in, I can find a pictorial tutorial on the web that shows you the steps for putting it in.

I would like to put a zipper around a passport/document holder in the first instance but I'm quite keen to try my hand at putting them into bags in general. Any input greatly appreciated. Thank you

Here is a link to a MSQC tutorial. Don't let it intimidate you. Give it a try. Good luck!

I think I know what you mean. I need printed instructions to go by when I first try a new process. Don't the zippers come with instructions? Small print but the complete instructions. You could also get a sewing book from the library to go by.

If book tutorials work for you, I have a book called The Bag Making Bible that has great instructions on all sorts of styles of setting zippers. Not that I've used any of them, mind you....
