we live in the twin cities area in mn. my daughter lives in a dead zone--we can't call each other on the verizon cells because of it. she's only 10 miles away, right on the edge of the mpls border. it seems like the more they advertise their "improved service", the worse it gets. i've been a customer for a long time, but i'm getting ready to bolt when my contract is up. dropped calls, no messages, unfriendly sales people at the malls...it all adds up.

I am on Altel - my son has me on his. I was in Alaska and cell phone wouldn't work. blamed it on no towers but others peoples phones worked. didn't even work after I got back home. I turned it off and then back on after a few minutes!
Works again.

I have had all kinds of trouble with Verizon ever since we moved to Tn. Live on top of a mountain in the woods plus have a metal roof. We even purchased a Verizon Wireless Network Extender hoping it would help. For awhile it did work but no more. I get disconnected, people tell me alot of times I sound like I am talking underwater. I have even went and purchased new phones. Where we live that is all we use is a cell phone and its so so frustrating that I can't even use mine. I have been turning to Skype here lately.

I had verizon for years. Like 8. and their service has been getting worse as time went one. I switched to Straight talk through wal-mart about 3 weeks ago. I sometimes still have problems but I can justify them with the cost only being $45 a month unlimited including internet. I was paying tons more monthly with verizon. So am fairly happy saving money this way.

I've had that from time to time. Running an update helps, but I don't remember how you do it. When my son was in seminary in NYC, there were towers outside the building, but not verizon's. He had to go up onto the roof to make a phone call!
