    Amen!

Teachers are highly respected in Asia. Why not here? I think America has some of its priorities skewed.

Yes, we do. Thanks from another retired teacher for the reminder of all the good teachers do.

I am a retired day care teacher and so many people think that all I did was baby sit. NOT so. We teach kids starting with infants through kindergaren and they are taught to recognize there name in writing by age one. They are read to, do painting hands and brush, explore science by feeling and touching and mixing things. This is just a small part but each child I sent into kindergarten knew how to spell and write their names, recognized opposites, colors. letters and numbers. I think that is a bit more than baby sitting. Most teacherr are great and deserve a whole lot more than they get. I was often asked if I could not find a better job. I think I had the best job in the world and would not trade it to be anything else/

I just sent this to my granddaughter and her new husband. He is a Jr. HS band director and she is finishing college to be an elementary school teacher.
