    Smile Another former lurker

    Hello,
My name is Cindy and I have been a lurker for a long time now. I love this place! Everyone is so friendly and helpful to each other. I have been inspired by all the beautiful pictures that I see on here and have been collecting fabric for over a year. I have downloaded about 300 years worth of projects that I want to do, but don't seem able to start one yet. Hopefully, now that I have come out of the closet, I will be able to overcome my problem and start creating something. Maybe the problem is that I am intimidated by all the wonderful things that I see on here. Anyway, thank you all for wonderful information and quilting tips that I have been soaking up in the event that I actually start a quilt!

Hi Cindy and welcome from MO. We all started the same place where you are. Just find a simple quilt pattern you like and dig in. There's lots of help on the board and all you have to do is ask. Good luck.

Hi Cindy and welcome from West Virginia. As far as starting a quilt, just start with something simple like a scrappy No Peeky 9 Patch. Cut all your squares the same size, maybe 3.5 inches for the first one, put them in a bag, pull out 2 and sew them together, use assembly line sewing, sewing several 2s together as long as they are not the same 2, then sew the third on, etc. It's a great way to get your feet wet. Sash them in a bright color, and you'll have a fabulous quilt! Pay attention to your quarter inch seam. Most of us don't have a perfect one, but if it is close, everything goes together so much better. Just one suggestion out of thousands on here, as you have already found out--LOL!
