    Default Hello from Baltimore, MD

We're actually in Catonsville, just outside of Baltimore city limits. My wife, Susan, and I moved East from Boise Idaho 3 years ago this April when she was offered a job with Pandora Jewelry at their distribution center in Columbia, MD. We've settled in and are exploring the Mid-Atlantic area as often as we can. Between D.C. and Baltimore there is so much to see and do that it is sometimes overwhelming!

I've had my own sewing machine, a Pfaff 1171, for about 5 years but only recently spent more time sewing. My first clothing project was a winter kimono in black linen with a cotton lining. After finishing the kimono my wife asked what I was going to sew next and I wanted to make a quilt for our Schnauzer, Bix.

I had sewn 90% of the blocks for our king size bed quilt, and Susan pieced it together. While she was doing the piecing she couldn't keep Bix off the quilt, so he had to have his own. After finishing Bix's quilt I have now started on a crib quilt for my Niece's daughter, using a Bento Box pattern. This has the makings of an addiction, complete with trips to our local quilt shop Patches in Mt. Airy.

I am looking forward to learning more about quilting techniques, mostly from Susan who has 30+ years of quilting experience, as well as from this community of quilters. We're trying to make time to join a local quilt guild, but things keep coming up on Monday evenings... we'll make it one of these weeks.

Welcome from Texas. I actually started piecing a bento box quilt yesterday. Looks like it's going to be fun.

Hello from just north of Baltimore! Our son just graduated from UMBC in Catonsville. If you all ever want to venture north a tad for quilt shops, there is one called Hoppin Bobbin ( in Aberdeen) . You probably know about Bear's Paw in Towson. Not that I'm an enabler or anything...

Welcome from Oregon. My daughters husband was stationed at Ft. Meade so I visited the area several times. For sure a lot to do. Envy you your quilting buddy.

Welcome from NJ. Baltimore is my hometown and we still get down there to visit at least a couple of times a year. As well as the Preakness balloon festival! Reading everyone's welcomes have given me new quilting places to visit next time we're there. Have fun.
