Default Reducing bulk in a quilt top

I have been getting these emails too often from Martingale (That Patchwork Place) but I stopped and watched this video. It shows Jo Morton’s showing her tricks for reducing bulk in quilt block seams:

    Enjoy and hope it helps!

My guild "leader" showed us this little trick a good number of years ago and it works so well when you have bulky little intersections. Is there nothing new under the sun? No, just new folks who have not tried it before! Thanks for passing this helpful trick on to our new quilters and to the more seasoned quilters who may have forgotten this helpful little technique.

I saw that at Martingale too, now if I can only remember to do it when the time comes.

I've seen that done before but wonder how a quilt that gets a lot of use and washing would hold up. I think I'd rather just press all the seams open.

I have wondered the same thing. It seems to me it would eventually fray beyond repair.

Neat trick. I have never done this to my quilt. I just press it as flat as I can. Thank you for this tip.

That's the technique I've gone to, also.

I just bought the Marti Michell corner trimmer. Lessening the dog ears will help as well.
