Default Anyone have a pattern idea for me

I have a vision in my head, but I'm not experienced enough to put it on paper. I want to make squares and have them graduate from light to dark starting with the light in the center.

I want to find a collection that has colors going from an off white through grays and into dark gray or maybe a black. Stonehenge winter stone strips is a possibility. Then I want to applique something in a bright color on it. A flower maybe.

Anyone have any ideas where I can find a pattern idea? Or a color collection? I've been searching all day and can't find much.

Thanks in advance for any ideas

I really don't think this is it, but, just in case. It is a pattern called First Light Log Cabin. You can google just that and get it if it "fits the bill."

It certainly isn't the colors you mentioned, and the pattern is probably larger than you were thinking....but....just in case. (The pattern doesn't call for a border, but I like borders, so I put them on mine.)

Try this book! It's actually alternating 9-patches and blocks http://www.amazon.com/Radiant-Sunshi.../dp/1571205527
I've made one of these - they are beautiful!

    Thanks for the ideas!

Dina, the idea I had in my head is like one of the squares.... just enlarged and with more layers of color!

WTxRed, that's the idea... except not quite as complicated design.... more plain squares

    Maybe combining the two ideas??

A bargello would look great in the colours you have in mind https://www.google.com.au/search?q=b...w=1280&bih=864

try googling 'colorwash quilt images' should bring up some pics
I don't know how difficult you want but here are a few. Some of our larger stores that also cater for quilters seem to be getting in black and white fat 1/4 packs these days. Sorry I can't offer any clues on fabrics, except try places like 'thousands of bolts' etc.

http://www.fabricfreedom.co.uk/atlantis.html this is a free pattern

These are all done with square pieces. I rather like the third one, or the first.

    Cheers

Wow, thanks for all the ideas! I love that fabric freedom site! So many ideas, so little time! Do they sell the fabric freedom kits in the USA?
