I don't know if there is a setting to adjust the bobbin winding. On my machine (Elna) I just hold the thread while it's winding to put some additional tension on it, otherwise it ends up wobbly looking and too loose. By holding the thread between thumb and forefinger, not only can I put some extra tension on it, I can direct the feed onto the bobbin to get it as full as possible.

Same here. I just hold the thread where it's come up through the hole as I wind the bobbin.

I place two fingers lightly on top of the bobbin as it winds and it stops the wobbling. I have heard that holding the thread does the same thing. Once you find out how best to address this, you will be amazed at how much more thread you will get on your bobbin.

I have been holding the thread but after reading a thread here I thought I had missed a trick. Thank you for your replies.

When I first got my Viking Topaz 20.. I had major issues with tight bobbin winding and it was making my sewing horrible, and embroidery. Now what I do is wrap it twice around the little tension disk on the top...never had an issue again. I had even mentioned this at my LQS (where I also purchased my machine), during a talk about self learning things.. they know I am all self taught. I happen to tell them I figured out why my embroidery was horrible looking (bobbin thread showing up on the front) because my bobbins were not tight. That's how I got it to work. Then I remembered my grandma making comment about this... so my LQS tried it...and she said she liked how tight it worked also. She thanked me for the tip.
