One of the ladies that I quilt w/ wants this quilt finished - but I have to fix it first - then I'll finish it up. As you can see - the borders are too puckery, so i need to take them off and fix it. This is why you measure and probably need to pin :roll: The finished quilt will need to fit a king size bed.

I will need to add 4 inches all the way around to get it to the king size quilt

I'm looking for ideas of how I can mix this up. I do have more of the fabrics, so that is not an issue.

Currently, the width of the strips as they are shown:
~ pink border => 4 inches
~ rectangular border => 4 inches
~ blue border w/ corner squares => 12 inches

Total border will need to be 24 inches wide. Not touching the center portion w/ the squares on point.

Don't necessarily need to work w/ what is already there - she has given me free reign!! :thumbup: :thumbup:

That's a lovely quilt!

Are the borders all that rippled? or is it the cat's fault for messing it up?

Use a high loft poly batt, and it'll be more forgiving for the imperfections.

It seems you have a little cat hair on the quilt.....still attached to the cat! I like the corner block idea.

No - the borders are really that puckery!! Quilt inspector isn't totally responsible! And the borders must come off and be reattached. My friend that put the borders on didn't measure. The middle portion (which was put together by someone else who sews better) My friend just cut as she went and sewed on. Some places the seam is 1/4". Other places it's 1/2" My guess is that if i took off the borders and laid them flat - they'd be 2,3,4, inches too long.

I was hoping people would have some ideas...This is my idea:

Reduce the 1st pink border to 3 inches wide
Reduce the rectangular squares to also 3 inches wide, but add a 2nd row in a running bond type pattern
Add another pink border that is 3 inches wide.

How about adding the extra to the rectangular pieces. Make a brick pattern out of it, then finish with the blue. Your quality control furbaby looks as if he/she already enjoys it. Does it know that it is not for them?

How about the 3" pink, then a 2" blue, then the two rows of bricks, then more blue? I think the blue between the pink and bricks would set the bricks off more. It will be a pretty quilt, and you're wise to fix the problem with the wavy borders before you go further.

Just asking, but couldn't you take them off, measure them for the correct length, fix them and put them back on?

Any way you could add more of the center blocks and then add the borders the right size? I would hate to see the center lost on so many borders. It may look a little disproportionate. My two cents.

I have about a month before I actually get started on this project. I have to finish my current project first.

And yes, my Project Manager/Quilt Inspector has to have her way w/ all my projects!! Gotta love 'em!!
