Default Can you help me find a pattern like this?

I asked a friend of mine if she'd let me make her a quilt. The reason I asked in advance is that she and her husband move every 3 years with the ministry they are involved in. Their replacements will move into their apt. I want my friend to take the quilt with her, not leave it in the apt. For the next couple. So she sent me a picture of this rug and asked if I could make a quilt something like it? Does any pattern spring to mind that could resemble this? I've looked on quilters cache and I've also googled bamboo quilt pattern but nothing comes up anywhere close. Any help will be appreciated!

I found a fabric on ebay (searched bamboo print fabri), use a panel for the center then look for a print to surround it with.

A print like those from Kaffe Fassett and other might be just the thing for that border. Then just draw the inner bamboo lattice out on graph paper to determine the size and piece it using similar fabrics for the bamboo and background. You'll have a quilt almost identical to the rug. Should be fairly easy.

I think I've seen some bamboo fabric that you could use for the lattice, just don't recall where (or when) I saw it. I do know I've seen fabric with the leaves like that. Good luck on your search.

I immediately thought of a lattice pattern. Depending on your color arrangement, when you set these block to block you can create a lattice look. Find a fabric that you like for the border and it would look very similar to the picture you posted. Here's a link. http://www.ideas-for-quilting.com/ri...uiltblock.html

I saw Hawaii applique for the border leaves. Must be fabric somewhere similiar to rest of border and centre.

Large print border, coordinating fabric for the center, quilt the lattice with a bamboo design. There are stencils available. If you can't find the correct size stencil, let me know and I will draw one for you.

I wouldn't literally try to follow the pattern of the rug but would rather find fabrics that are similar to the leaves and bamboo in it. Then I would do a simple quilt design to feature the fabrics. Anything with fabrics and colors like the rug would go with it.

I know I've seen fabrics like that in my Hancock's of Paducah catalog.
