    Default Can you mix these?

I was wondering, if one can mix brush cotton with cotton. I'm making a quilt for my brother and I want my sashing to be light and can't find a brush cotton in a light enough color...Do you think it would be ok...The blocks are a nine patch in brush cotton and the sashing would be in cotton.

It's not like you're going to put it in a contest. If your brother is like most men, they will look at the whole quilt and won't police the details. Go for it, he'll think it was suppose to be.

As far as anyone else knows, it's just another design element.

And my favorite answer.... "and once it's quilted it will be less noticeable!" That answer works for many questions!! haha!

Thanks everyone. Figured it would be ok, just wondered if one would shrink differently, but once quilted don't think it will much matter....onward and upward lol

You're the artist who created this quilt - and as the artist, you can do as you please! That's the beauty of being a quilter.

As long as you wash/preshrink fabrics, you can mix anything you want.

I agree with all of the above.
    Your quilt - your way.
