almost everybody here has a pet. some cats, some dogs, some horses, some chickens.
i'm conducting a 6-week survey to find out which animal quilters relate best to.
if you have a pet, please post on this thread for all the world to see. we may all be surprised at what we find out about each other.
i have one plain old cat. age 20. half abyssinian, half street cat. from the shelter. she's beginning to fail. i guess that's why i'm thinking of this. her brother died at 15. these are cats #8 and 9 that i can remember. i won't go thru all the names or we'll be here forever. please do the same.
what do you think will be the winner? goldfish?
just checked and it ends december 30th. whoops! sorry. i will count after xmas and report back. remember.....
6 weks only!

I have a cat that is about 1 1/2 years old. He's a Russian Blue mix. He looks like a Russian Blue, but I got him from a rescue, so I'm pretty sure he isn't a purebread. His name is Archie. He was found in a sack in the river with the rest of his litter. Only two of them survived. Archie is a pain But I love him anyway.

hey moonpi,
don't ruin my day of fun. those are all cute animal friends, but this is a really important survey. students from all over the world will study the results long after we're gone. you have to take it seriously. (my tongue is in my cheek).
by the way, do you have a companion? i mean the kind with fins, fur or feathers?

My favorite is my 1 year old Goldendoodle named Brewster. He is a miniature and weighs about 40 lbs. and thinks he is a lap dog!!
But then there are my two parrots; one an Africian Grey and one a Senegal parrot. Oliver the Grey has a vocabulary of over 1000 (yes 1000) words and says things appropriate to the situation. Once I was softly discussing with DH that is was Wednesday and the Sunday paper was still next to his chair! When I got done Oliver said (in DH's voice) "Aw, shut-up!" Of course we both lost it and I picked up the paper for the recycling pile!!! Oliver answers the phone when it rings and will say "telephone" to anyone who will listen. When I am on the phone conducting business he is in the background saying "Hi, this is..... blah, blah, blah. Ok goodbye and thankyou." Both birds are in my sewing room, so keep me company and talk to me. Brewster does not phase them at all - in fact he gets in their cages to eat their food and they get down and peck him on the head and he never even looks up. We do have a gate to the room, so he only gets in there when supervised.
I have had plenty of other pets over the years, cats, rabbits, newts, hamsters etc. That's what you do when you have kids!

I have zzyzx the cat. She's 16.5 yrs old, marmalade & white (see avatar), American medium hair (heeheehee) and I adopted her from the pound. Before her, I had a lab/shepherd mix named Jensen. Yes, my dog was named after a car (Jensen Healy) and my cat is named after a road (Zzyzx Road, off the I-15 between Barstow & Las Vegas). I couldn't pick a favorite, but I would say that the cat is lower maintenance.

I currently have a big dog. If I lived in the country, I would also have cats. Had them in the city..DO NOT like cat box!!! And the one cat didn't like it much either   And the dog likes to eat cats..to the tune of $250 to get poor old Peanut's hind quarters stitched up..he lives with my daughter now!! I've also had horses, sheep, chickens, rabbits, ducks, gerbils, mice, chameleons and fish. :!: As far as a quilting assistant..I think I prefer a dog.

it's interesting to know where we were before and where we are now. our animal tastes change as our circumstances do.
as long as you all remember that it's what you have now that counts, then it's fun to hear about the others. heartbreaks and all.
