Clutter!! It keeps following me!!
#53
I have so enjoyed this thread (and I'll bet it will continue running) because I can relate to all of these clutter queens. I don't pick up after each project is completed because before I complete one, I start another. Right now I have three things going and there are things EVERYWHERE. And besides.......I don't have enough space for everything to be put away. The room is shared with home "office" and scrapbooking hobby. WE just spill over into other corners of the house, including our bedroom and this room we call the game room. Occasionally I just can't take it anymore so I try to put a little order to the madness. Right now, I'm looking for my little ruler that I use to trim flying geese blocks. Just can't find it. And I know it's in there somewhere. I do have thing contained in tubs, stacked orderly, etc.

I tend to clean up after each project is completed, but not during. What I'm undisciplined about is putting fabric away properly - sorting, etc. It winds up just folded and put in my storage cabinet. One of these days, that will be an all day project...getting it organized again. I do have a separate sewing room, but it happens to be the entrance from the carport and we enter/leave the house through this room. Somehow it becomes a temporary spot to leave things that need to be put elsewhere. I am grateful for my spacious room, however, and have learned to tolerate those stray items now and then.

A neat freak I an not, but I sort of clean as I go, in the kitchen as well as in the sewing room or craft area. By so doing, I avoid a lot of lost time looking for things which are right before me, but under clutter. It only takes a moment to put the rulers back in their rack, cutters in their proper location, thread where it belongs, etc., but days to clean up if I allow clutter to happen. Now my home office area is a different story . . .

I put rulers away after using them, put my rotary cutter away after using it. A place for everything,
and everything in its place. Before leaving my sewing room everything is put away.
Maybe its leftover from having children around. Always put scissors and harmful objects away.
I like a neat clean room when I walk into my sewing room to begin sewing.
Can't stand clutter, thats why they make so many organizers. :0)

Mine is a mess while I am working then after each project finish I do clean. However sometimes I have more than one project going and then is stays a mess all the time. lol
My brothers step daughter is OCD neat freak. She drives me batty sometimes. I had just finished making a dog nesting blanket from a microfiber blanket ,I had blue fuzz everywhere, She looked horrified and told me I had fabric all over the floor. I just told her yep and this isnt' bad considering. At least she didn't notice the pins. LOL

Quilter's Clutter
Never could understand people who put everything away every night, and then spent twenty minutes next day getting it all out of the shelves. Save time, leave things where they are being used. Right? Mr Clean (husband of sixty plus years) has never understood that thinking, of course. I make scrap quilts, and need every piece of whatever color is the theme fabric right under my eyes. piecefully, the old one
