QuiltsRfun, the timing of your post is amazing...I am visiting my kids in California for a month so I stopped into my mother’s home to rescue an old Singer Athena 2000 from her basement and it’s in the shop getting a tuneup so I can work on a project. And, guess what? I brought a cone of Aurifil with me....

thank you for your post and clever idea...it will come in handy.

'Necessity is the mother of invention' is what my mom used to say all of the time. ! A great solution to your need.

That's what's known as an elegantly simple solution - the best kind. Thanks for the tip. Just make sure there are no rough spots along the tines of the plastic fork because that's where the mold might leave them when forks are made. Maybe a plastic big-eye needle, designed for yarn, would also work in a situation like this. I have a cone stand, but it's kind of an awkward thing for travel.

I have done exactly the same thing before I had a stand! (With the safety pin.)
