I just glued patches on jeans today so I didn't have to fight pins while sewing. I'm a glue-holic.

I use liquid glue to baste my quilts and love it! I use the glue sticks for bindings...a bit messier, but dries faster under the iron.....When I find a store that has the liquid glue in gallon jugs, I will buy that way.....or stock up at WalMart during back to school sales!

I use Elmer's School Glue for my bindings and when doing blocks QAYG. I only put small dots and then use my iron to set it. It's also great for matching the seams before I sew them together. I also have Roxanne's but use it for my applique. I sometimes use the glue sticks for my paper piecing. I hate using pins.

Question - on one of the tutorials I watched about glue basting, think it was Sharon Shamberg?, it looked like the tip of the glue bottle had something on it to make a smaller amount come out. It looked like there was a small metal tip on the plastic tip. Does anybody have any idea what that was, or am I nuts? A smaller bead would be very nice to try to avoid messiness!

My bottle of Elmer's School Glue says "Made in USA," but the Glue All is made in China. I wonder why the difference.

I plan to try this and hear that it is Elmer's "school" glue that should be used. Apparently there are several types of Elmers. Don't know if this is what makes the difference, but I bought the school glue.

The bottle I have is the blue gel glue that says it's "Washable, No Run School Glue Gel doesn't run or drip." It also says made in China. I'll be using the Roxanne's unless I can get an Elmer's that's made in the USA.

The Elmers sounds great, but what does it do to the sewing machine needle and bobbin? Any problems?

That is such a good tip to have. Glad you are finding it so much easier.
