    Default Fabric with metallic designs

This may be a question that has been asked an answered on the board; if so, I apologize.

Is there any actual metal in the metallic print on fabrics?

    Thanks for your help.

Ha! There can be. How do I know? Well, I set off the security alarm going through a TSA checkpoint at the airport because of my sweater that was made with metallic yarn. Had to submit to a full pat-down. Very unsettling. I won't make that mistake again.

ha, ha. didn't know that. my sister took off her strapless bra due to those alarms! I wondered about the metallic prints i used in a quilt doing all right in the dryer. I gave it away so never knew.

Interesting question. I have used many metallic fabrics that RK and Hoffman has made. Never gave it a thought before.

Some of the quilts for soldiers sites ask that fabrics not contain metallics or sparkles due to the risk of rub-off into wounds.

I can guarantee the gold and silver metallics on the Hoffmans, etc, wash away with time. I have many quilts with them in it. Whether it would set off airport alarms I can't say, but it is just paint, not real metal like in sweater embellishments.
