    Default Gold Clover Quick Bias

I bought the pattern for the Poinsettia Table Runner from "Christmas Traditions in Stained Glass," and am so excited about making it. But the pattern calls for 19 yards of Gold Clover Quick Bias. Lowest price I've found for 19 yards would be two spools at $15/ea. $30 is a lot to pay for a table runner embellishment. Can you give me some suggestions of a great looking option for lower price? Thanks!

You can make your own bias tape in regular fabric but it will be hard in metalics. It is pricy but pretty. You could couch a gold yarn where the bias tape goes. Does anyone make a nice size gold yarn though? How about zig zagging narrow gold ribbon instead? It would depend on if the ribbon could bend like bias.

The black narrow bias makes a great sub for the gold. The gold and silver metalics bias are pricey. I buy a roll when I have a 50% coupon for JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby and can't find anything else to use the coupon with.

My suggestion also is to use the 40% off coupon.

Consider substituting a colored bias tape - either purchased or home-made. The look would be a bit different but could still be quite stunning!

Actually, the $30 price would be if I got it from Joanne's at 50% off.

my first thought was that black bias tape would look pretty. Or, what about a gold color tape?

Gold double-face polyester satin ribbon (1/4") at Hobby Lobby is 1.99 for a 6 yd spool, regular price. The (1/8") metallic gold 10 yd ribbon roll is 1.27. Check the Christmas ribbon aisle.
