I think that was a wonderful to do for her..my husband is in the earily stage of Alzhiemers an has a hard time remembering our grandkids, so i think i will try this for him, thank you and God bless

For finding an extra long zipper I would check with an upholstery shop.

Make like a pillow sham..No zipper needed. If anything you might use some velcro. that is what I did.

Some of the moving quilts are made with stuff that will make you itch and break out in a rash.....have seen this.

You can buy zipper tape by the yard, it comes on large 35-yard spools. Just google "zipper by the yard".

Having said that, I think I would also rather use velcro. Seems to be easier and cheaper to purchase.

This has nothing to do with moving blankets but I will tell you a time and money saving tip. Before I learned to quilt I purchased a lot of factory made quilts. I always got the good quality ( as good as you can get for store bought) I have used several of these as batting and backing. I just baste with safety pins my pieced top to the store quilt and then quilt it however I want. This makes for a nice warm quilt and costs me zero dollars. Nice recycle too.

They have a light blue and a dark blue for $6 72" x 80" that look nice! And yes they are already quilted, but not he ugly gray ones.

peckish-- that just tickled me! that's my kind of thinking, but my upbringing would never let me do it. but i don't make the same mistake twice, so they wouldn't be getting another quilt of any kind, except maybe quilted charmin!
