    Default Help with Juki DX7

While piecing, every now and then my tension will suddenly play up giving me lousy tension (needle thread lying along the fabric and the underside stitches waaay too loose). If I remove my bobbin and then put it back in place everything is fine again so I'm assuming it is something to do with the bobbin. If I don't remove and re-seat the bobbin the tension continues being horrid. It's happened with several bobbins (yes, they are Juki bobbins) which to my eye look properly wound and also several different spools of thread. Any ideas for me on what is going on?

Sorry. I have a Juki DX7 but have never had that issue. I hate to ask the obvious but have you taken out the bobbin case and cleaned as thoroughly as possible? Here is an email address for Juki support for a domestic machine: [email protected] Hopefully they can give you a couple of suggestions.

I don’t have the DX7 so I can’t help but I did have an issue with mt Juki straight stitch and received great tech support when I called Juki directly. I believe it was a number to Juki Support in Miami, FL.

    I hope you’re back to smooth-stitching soon!

Thanks Sailorwoman, I'll send an email to them. Yep, clean my bobbin case regularly....will have another look at it this morning though!
Thanks TheMerkleFamily, I appreciate your response but phoning from Australia is not an option for me. Tech support here for Juki is minimal as I won't go back to the place of purchase due to a previous experience and there are very few other Juki dealers here in Melbourne. A local shop can service my Juki straight stitch...I guess I could take the DX in but until it is a frequent problem it seems a bit pointless.

    Thankyou both for your suggestions....appreciated.

That would be very maddening. I hope you can get it figured out.

Update.....my problem was that I wasn't seating the bobbin thread firmly enough in the tension path. As a result it would jump out after a while so would still feed through to the needle but with no tension. Once I started paying more attention to my bobbin placement procedure I was "home and hosed." Thankyou those who offered suggestions.

Good for you, Ruby! I've had instances of the bobbin thread jumping out of the path too. It makes a particular noise when I put the needle down to bring up the bobbin thread, so now I recognize it, and remove and reinstall the bobbin.

Glad you figured it out. I was running through all the different thing on my own Juki that could cause this kind of problem.
