The Horizon doesn't do embroidery, like what she specificially said she needs.

My Viking Designer 1 was a nice machine, as long as I didn't plan a sewing marathon.Good thread, cleaned, rethreaded & ready to go.Never happened....after 1-2 hrs....or less, would Clunk Clunk & stop.Would go thru the rethreading etc again & it might sew another 15 mins, then nothing.

The bobbin was a pain to fill.Took the machine in & dealer said "all is fine now" But,again, same thing & dealer went out of business after 1mo or so.Sold it to a woman who knew my probs with it & bought a Bernina 440.I don't embroidery, but went with it because of dealer & reading on line.
Prob all the good machines are good...anyone can get a lemon :-) I did.
In 2 yrs,I've only had 2 calls to dealer & she had the ans....no need to take it in.Have never had a problem except user mess up :-)
Best anyone can do is their homework, think it over, then repeat.Decide what machine works best for you & enjoy!

I had it back many times for repairs. Another problem I had with Viking was the software you could purchase to do your own designs or edit other designs. It was very expensive and it was not updated after a couple of years. You were expected to buy the next version for hundreds of dollars more.
I love my Baby Lock and enjoy embroidering on it.

I have a Pfaff and love it. It must be built rather sturdy as my puppy got herself tangled in the cords and took off running and took my machine with her. Machine went flying off the sewing table and landed with a lot of noise on the floor. Well, I picked up the machine and plugged her in and she runs just fine. I won't have to get rid of the puppy. :D

I have both a Husqvarna and a Pfaff (although they are a couple of years ago's top models - not the current top models). Anyway, I use the Husqvarna more for embroidery because it seems the software is easier for me - and I find that I use the Pfaff for everything else. The build in walking foot is wonderful! Also, it seems that the Pfaff is more reliable for everyday sewing.

I have a Bernina 440QE and love, love it. It has many stitches and sews like a dream. There is an embroidery attachment available which will be a nice Xmas present someday! I think the Bernina is bulletproof.

I just want to add that the Bernina dealer is superb. You can go through the classes as many times as you need to, and they go the extra mile trying to make you happy.

I got my great acrylic portable sewing table to fit my older Pfaff (a Creative 1743CD) through Nancy's Notions. I considered it a great investment.

    I second that!!

I love mine and wouldn't trade it! The only thing that I would like is the stitch regulator, but other than that, I plan on keeping mine!

I, too, have a Pfaff 7570 and am VERY PLEASED with it. I have been tempted to buy a Creative 4.0 for the ease of the embroidery and it can also be used for my quilting. I would never get rid of my 7570. My heart wants a new one, but my brain tells me 7570 does everything that I need and it has been so good to me.
