bought my $12 iron at walmart, has never leaked, does a great job....like the idea about plugging it in with a light, coz i do leave it on, on occasion!!

I am on my second T-Fall iron and I love it it does have auto shut off but fast recovery as I leaved mine plugged in most of the time and with water in it I get 5 years out of one with tap water and if I bought bottled water probably much longer I threw 3 Rowenta in the garbage also the T-Fall has very powerful syeam I got mine at Target for 35,00 dollars

I have a Hamilton Beach. I like the weight, the pointy tip, but when it shuts off it is hard to restart and when it is on, it cools down too much before it begins to reheat. I think it must have something to do with the thermostat--anyway, it is a pain!

Rowenta or Proctor-Silex. The Rowenta is a heavier iron that I like for pressing the seams etc. and the Proctor-Silex is lighter and has lasted 15 years. Neither leaks.

Reliable V50. Got it a couple weeks ago and I love it. I have to iron a shirt for work every day and it cut my ironing time by two thirds. My sister has one also and she loves hers.

Great info! I too have had problems with leaky irons. I may look into a dry iron.

All the irons I've found at yard sales seems to be the ones that don't work for someone else so they put them in yard sales.
Although some of you out there may find a good used one.

I have 2 cheap irons, both at least 10-15 yrs. old...still work great and only use distilled water!

Thrift store finds are the best. They are old, heavy and work! And they don't shut off automatically. I have several in my collection, assumably so when one quit I could just throw it away and reach for another. So far, I'm still on the first one since the expensive Rowenta would not stop leaking water all over everything. What a waste of money that was.
