I saw a beautiful log cabin quilt done is white -the variations of the logs was in the subtle fabric designs of the various sized logs used to make up each log cabin block. It was stunning in its simplicity.

Next week my aunt has a wedding. And I got a great wedding gift for her. It has a lot of beautiful tulips on it. I think this is an awesome gift and she will be excited when will see that quilt.

I once made a Triple Wedding Ring quilt for a couple of friends getting married. I don't recommend it. To make it worse, she picked out Waverly fabric (home decor weight) and I hand quilted it. The marriage didn't last, either. She offered me the quilt back but I declined, don't know what happened to it.

Lap size quilts - what a wonderful idea. The idea certainly can be used for other than wedding quilts/gifts.

Anything you make will be appreciated. Just make something you are proud to gift.

(But I have to admit - love the scrap dog quilt idea!)

I personally think any traditional quilt block pattern or sampler is great. The larger the better. I have made 6 DWR's so far and will probably be making more in the future but it is good to hear that you want to get a different pattern. One that comes to mind that I have also made for a wedding quilt is one made using the "depression block" you will find it here:
